The Swedish proverb

(The afternoon knows things … that the morning do not even dream of).

During a holiday on a Greek island I got acquainted with a hefty American girl

of German origin; she worked in a clinic, in the ward for terminally ill patients.

One day, after having heard something, she scolded me in a Teutonic way

because I had left home taking only little money with me.

(Moreover,she did not know that, during one of my many moves,

someone had stolen my bag with food supplies in it).

Two days before I left the island she told me in confidence:

"Franco, you know … something strange has happened …

I am short of money, too and I have been obliged to borrow some from my

roommate … fortunately I had already paid my return ticket...".

P.S.

This afternoon I have gone to my bank in order to deliver my

income tax return: the bank was closed.

A notice advised that the employees were on strike that afternoon.
